Unified Academy marks National Careers Week with inspiring line up of activities
Students at Unified Academy are embracing National Careers Week (2–7 March) with an exciting programme of workshops, taster sessions and guest speakers designed to broaden horizons and spark future ambitions.
Throughout the week, students across the school will take part in hands‑on activities and meet professionals from a diverse range of industries, from emergency services and construction to virtual reality design and the British Army.
A highlight of the week includes a First Aid taster session, delivered by a paramedic first responder. Groups of students will receive practical, potentially life‑saving training throughout the day.
Lower School students will take part in Employability Workshops run by the Department for Work & Pensions, helping them begin to understand workplace expectations and essential work skills.
Students will also gain insight into key local sectors, with visits from:
- Surrey Care, speaking about careers in the care sector
- A professional from the construction industry, sharing their career journey
- SATRO, delivering a hands‑on construction session using their specialist van, a popular regular activity at Unified Academy
In an exciting off‑site experience, students will visit the Royal College of Art to explore virtual reality and computer game creation alongside an industry expert, a unique opportunity to connect creativity with cutting‑edge technology.
The school will also host follow‑up employability sessions led by Clarion Housing Association, supporting students to continue developing confidence and workplace readiness.
Students will hear first‑hand from a police officer about their career path, and later in the week will welcome the British Army for Elite Skills Academy Training and a careers talk. Students will take part in a team‑building challenge focused on problem‑solving and collaboration.
National Careers Week encourages schools nationwide to raise aspirations and showcase the breadth of opportunities available to young people. Unified Academy is certainly planning to make the most of the week and give the students an insight into many different career paths.
