Students take to the water with confidence-building paddle boarding sessions
With the arrival of summer term and a welcome spell of sunshine, students at Unified Academy have been making the most of the warmer weather by taking their learning beyond the classroom. During a recent afternoon personal development (PD) session, a group of students enjoyed an exciting paddle boarding experience at Mercers Lake.
The session gave students the opportunity to learn essential paddle boarding skills, with a strong focus on developing core strength and balance. Under guidance, students began by mastering the basics close to shore, building both their technique and confidence on the water.
Once they felt comfortable, the group ventured further out onto the lake, putting their newly acquired skills to the test. The experience challenged students physically and mentally, encouraging perseverance, resilience and teamwork.
Opportunities such as this reflect Unified Academy’s commitment to enriching learning experiences that support students’ personal development, well-being and self-belief, proving that education can be just as powerful outdoors as it is in the classroom.
