Canine Assisted Learning

Our Canine Assisted Learning (CAL) therapy sessions are dedicated to improving the mental health, emotional wellbeing and literacy of students through professional canine support.

Canine Assisted Learning (CAL) provides an opportunity for students to spend time and learn with trained therapy dogs, within small groups and on a 1:1 basis.

It has been proven that within educational settings, the presence of a therapy dog within the classroom, can reduce blood pressure, promote physical healing, reduce anxiety, fatigue and depression, as well as provide emotional and academic support.

The positive impact of delivering CAL at Unified Academy is demonstrated by students’ saying that spending time with the therapy dog made them feel, “happy and relaxed”.
