Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award

Over the past year one of our Year 11 pupils, George, has been attending East Surrey Collage to learn and take the course iDEA ‘Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award’.

iDEA is a programme designed to provide lifelong learning for anyone who wants to develop digital, enterprise and employability skills.

Through a series of online challenges and events, George competed to win awards. For every new skill and learning experience he mastered, George was awarded a digital badge. Each badge carried a number of points and once George had earned enough points, he was awarded the Bronze Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award.

The badges earnt through the challenges have helped him be safer online, pick up tips and techniques on topics such as web design, cyber security, cloud computing, animation and how to use colours in digital creations. These digital skills are all about developing the ability to tell a computer what to do, make and build, at the same time helping George get creative and gain confidence.

Enterprise skills set you up for success in the world of work. iDEA helps equip people to be digital workers, makers, entrepreneurs, gamers and citizens of the future.

All of this has been possible through The Prince Andrew Charitable Trust fund, an initiative that The Duke of York has created within his core areas of interest: Education and Skills, Entrepreneurship and Science, Technology and Engineering.

George is now working towards his Silver Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award and we wish him the best of luck!
