Last week marked Children’s Mental Health Week 2021, and to celebrate students engaged in activities based around this year’s theme – ‘Express Yourself’. Here are some of the highlights; Year 7 students found a variety of ways to look after their mental health, from taking part in physical exercise, getting outdoors and enjoying nature to creating a ‘calm corner’ to relax in. Year 8 expressed themselves artistically by creating a mosaic of their silhouettes and writing about what makes them happy, whilst others practised mindfulness by designing happiness balloons. Our celebrations cumulated with a “Random Acts of Kindness Day” on Friday. Students created a bank of surprise acts of kindness that were shared across the whole school community throughout the day. Our remote home learners also got involved by sharing recipes and cooking food to share with their families.
