At Unified Academy Religious Studies (RS) is delivered through our PSHE lessons and tutorial sessions. Religion and beliefs shape our values and our behaviour. RS develops students’ knowledge and understanding of the faiths that form part of contemporary society. It encourages young people to ask challenging questions about the meaning and purpose of life and issues of right and wrong. RS develops students’ knowledge and understanding of the principal world faiths. It can also make important contributions to other parts of the school curriculum such as citizenship, personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) and the humanities. RS also contributes to students’ personal development and well-being. We want them to be reflective about the beliefs, religious or otherwise, that underpin their own perspective on life. In Religious Studies we aim for all students to develop a love of learning and an interest in exploring cultural diversity. Students should understand and respect the range of different cultures and spirituality within the school and further afield as an essential element of their preparation for adult life in the modern world and a diverse society.
