Personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) is an essential part of all students’ education. At Unified Academy, the PSHE curriculum enables all students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy, safe, and prepared for life. Our PSHE programme and the universal PHSE offer aims to have an impact on both student’s academic and social outcomes. PSHE education contributes to our school’s statutory duties including the Equality Act (2010) to provide a balanced and broadly-based curriculum. Our PSHE offer addresses; substance misuse and its dangers, healthy eating, the importance of physical and mental health citizenship, British values, budgeting and other key skills for life. These are addressed through the core themes of ‘Health and Wellbeing’, ‘Living in the Wider World’ and ‘Relationships’. Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is embedded within our PSHE framework. PSHE at Unified Academy will address barriers to learning, raise aspirations, and improve the life chances of all students. Students in Year 9, 10 and 11 will gain AQA Unit Awards to recognise their achievements.
