At Unified Academy, ICT education equips students with skills and knowledge that are essential for future success in the working world, as well as important elements in their leisure and social lives. ICT has links with mathematics, science and design and technology. Students will be taught how to communicate safely online by developing clear and robust internet protocols. Learning in ICT also ensures that students become digitally literate and are able to express themselves and develop their ideas through technology in ways that meet the needs of the future workplace and of active participants in a digital world.
Students are equipped to use ICT to create programs, systems and a range of content. They will learn about the various applications of computers, for example in writing, publishing, using email, accessing websites, constructing spreadsheets and using the internet for individual research. They will be able to articulate the impact that their skills and knowledge in ICT can have on their futures.
In Years 8 and 9 students will gain AQA Unit Awards to recognise their achievements and in KS4 students will gather evidence to support achieving the OCR Level 1 iMedia Award, or the Level 1 Award in Essential Digital Skills for Work & Life
