At Unified Academy, history education will help students to gain a working knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It will inspire students’ curiosity to know more about the past. Teaching will equip students to ask perceptive questions, think critically, analyse evidence, evaluate arguments and develop perspective and judgement. Their studies in this subject will help them to evaluate the impact that historical events have had on their lives and society today. They will learn how democracy has developed and grown over the centuries. History helps students to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the processes of and reasons for change over time, the diversity of societies, the relationships between different groups and the challenges humans have faced at different times
At Unified Academy Geography inspires our students to have a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Students will compare geographical locations; investigating trade, environmental impact, climate, natural hazards, population, culture, erosion and how the UK fits in the 21st century world. Students will be more confident discussing their community, heritage and culture as they progress into adulthood.
Students will complete end-of-topic assessments, present completed work and receive accreditation to recognise their learning by completing AQA Unit Awards.
