In celebration of the Chinese New Year students were given the opportunity to join in an assembly. Everyone learnt about the traditional story of how the twelve animals were chosen for the Chinese Zodiac. 2020 is the year of the Rat and many of the Year 7 students discovered this matched the animal for their birth year!
Students also got a chance to sample a variety of different foods from China and explore the different textures and tastes.
At the end of the assembly everyone received a traditional Chinese red money envelope with a gold coin inside. Red is a popular colour in China, it is regarded as a symbol of energy, happiness and good luck. Red envelopes are a way to send good wishes and luck!
